LUXURY VINYL TILES (LVT)

  1. What are luxury vinyl tiles (LVT)
Luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) are a type of flooring material that mimics the appearance of natural materials such as hardwood and stone. They are made from synthetic materials but offer the look and feel of these luxury materials.

  2. What are the benefits of choosing Wood Origins’ luxury vinyl tiles (LVT)?
Our LVT are UV-coated and are highly resistant to scratches, stains, and wear. With a 0.5mm wear layer, our LVT can withstand heavy foot traffic, making them suitable for both residential and light commercial usage.
Being made from 100% virgin materials and SGBP certified, our LVT adheres to the most stringent standards and are free of phthalates and formaldehyde.
Our LVT utilizes an interwoven fiberglass construction as compared to lower grade “line” construction methods. This contributes to far higher dimensional stability.
Typical vinyl planks have a repeat pattern frequency of 1 in 5. Here at Wood Origins, we provide minimal pattern repeat, at 1 in 6 to 7 planks, for a more organic design.

  3. Can luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) be overlaid on existing flooring?
In many cases, LVT can be overlaid on existing flooring, such as tiles or hardwood, provided that the surface is smooth, clean, and level. Speak to a Wood Origins representative today for further information and assistance for your flooring needs.

  4. Do our luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) fade or discolour over time?
Our LVT are UV-coated and designed to resist fading and discoloration, even with extended exposure to sunlight.

  5. Are there any toxic substances in luxury vinyl tiles (LVT)?
Our LVT are SGBP certified and have no formaldehyde and phthalates. They also emit extremely low volatile organic compounds, as they are made from 100% virgin materials.

  6. How do I clean and maintain luxury vinyl tiles (LVT)?
LVT are easy to clean and maintain. Regular sweeping or vacuuming to remove dirt and debris, followed by mopping with a mild detergent solution, is usually sufficient to keep them looking great.

  7. What is the difference between click vinyl and dry-back vinyl?
Click vinyl (floating vinyl) features an interlocking mechanism that allows the planks to be clicked together during installation. Essentially, it sits on top of your subfloor, without the use of any adhesive. Dry-back vinyl (glue-down vinyl) requires adhesive to be applied to the subfloor before the vinyl planks are firmly pressed into place.

  8. What is the installation lead time upon confirmation of my order?
We will schedule the installation for you within 1 week, subject to availability.

ENGINEERED WOOD

  1. What is engineered wood?
It is made of a layer of solid hardwood bonded with multiple layers of plywood.

  2. What are the benefits of choosing Wood Origins’ engineered wood?
There are different gradings for the veneer hardwood used in engineered wood
    • A (Modern Grade) – minimal to zero knots and colour variation.
    • AB (Prime Grade) – small knots that are minimal in size with slight colour variation.
    • ABC (Select Grade) – visual knots that measure 20 – 50mm in size with natural colour variation.
    • ABCD (Natural Grade) – more natural defects than ABC-grade, and the colour is even more varied.
    • CD (Rustic Grade) – lowest grade of timber, with lots of knots that come in different shapes and sizes. Colour imperfections are present.
At Wood Origins, we only utilize AB grade timber for our engineered wood offerings, to ensure a clean and elegant look for your space.

  3. How stable is engineered wood?
The cross-ply construction of engineered wood allows for greater stability. It prevents the material from swelling or shrinking as much due to temperature and humidity changes, as compared to solid wood flooring.

  4. Does engineered wood flooring scratch easily?
Being an organic product, the scratch and wear resistance is certainly not as high as synthetic materials such as vinyl. To protect your floor, vacuum regularly to remove grit and use felt pads on the legs of your furniture.

  5. How do I maintain engineered wood flooring?
Dirt and debris should be removed with a vacuum cleaner from the floor, prior to mopping.
Occasional damp-mopping with a wood cleaner is ideal to maintain the longevity of the floor.
Our engineered wood can also be sanded and refinished once to restore its appearance.
